Joanne McCarthy writes in Waterford in both English and Irish. Her work is published in Poetry Ireland Review, The Stinging Fly, The Honest Ulsterman, The Irish Independent New Irish Writing, Comhar, Splonk, Aneas and more. She is anthologised in Hold Open the Door, The Ireland Chair of Poetry Anthology, The Stony Thursday Book and The Same Page Anthology. Her work was Highly Commended in Desmond O’Grady International Poetry Competition 2022 and 2021. She is an Arts Council and John Hewitt International Summer School bursary recipient. She is co-founder and co-editor of the literary journal The Waxed Lemon. She is currently reading poetry at the Seamus Heaney Centre, Queen’s University Belfast.

Jessica Traynor is a poet, essayist and librettist, and poetry editor at Banshee. Herdebut poetry collection, Liffey Swim(Dedalus Press, 2014), was shortlisted for the Strong/Shine Award. The Quick(Dedalus Press, 2018) was an Irish Times poetry choice. Awards include the Ireland Chair of Poetry Bursary and Hennessy New Writer of the Year. Operas include Paper Boat, a commission from Irish National Opera and Music for Galway, and The Wanderer, commissioned by Irish Modern Dance Theatre. Residencies include Yeats Society Sligo, Seamus Heaney Home Place and the DLR LexIcon. Pit Lullabies(Bloodaxe, 2022) is a Poetry Book Society Recommendation.

Lucy Holme is a poet and mother from Kent who lives in Cork, Ireland. Her poems feature in Southword, Iamb, Wild Court, Poetry Birmingham Literary Journal, and Bad Lilies amongst others. She was the May winner of New Irish Writing 2022 in the Irish Independent and she is currently studying for an MA in Creative Writing at UCC, working on her poetry thesis. Her debut chapbook, Temporary Stasis, which was shortlisted for The Patrick Kavanagh Award, will be published by Broken Sleep Books in August 2022.

Patrick Holloway is a writer of stories and poems. He was the 2021 winner of the Molly Keane Creative Writing Competition, The Allingham Flash Fiction Competition, and the Flash 500 competition. He was a finalist for the C. P Cavafy Prize in 2021. His work has been published by The Stinging Fly, Carve, Overland, The Irish Times, Poetry Ireland Review, The Moth, Southword, among many others. His story, ‘Laughing and Turning Away’ won second place in the Raymond Carver Short Story Contest. He has been shortlisted for numerous other prizes including: Bath Short Story Prize, Moth Poetry Prize, Moth Short Story Prize, Bath Flash Fiction Prize, Dermot Healy Poetry Prize, Over The Edge New Writer of the Year Award (for both fiction and poetry) and the prestigious Alpine Fellowship for Fiction. He is the editor of The Four Faced Liar.

Derek Flynn is an Irish author, playwright, and musician with a Masters in Creative Writing from Trinity College, Dublin. His has self-published a number of novels featuring the ex-cop turned private detective, John Ryan, including THE DEAD GIRLS which was chosen as one of the “Best Irish Books of 2018” by the readers of the Rick O’ Shea Book Club, Ireland’s biggest online book club.
His award-nominated plays have been performed in various venues throughout Ireland, including the prestigious “Scene + Heard” Festival in Smock Alley, Dublin.
He is the co-founder and co-editor of the literary magazine The Waxed Lemon, which novelist and columnist Megan Nolan has called, “a remarkable, sustained volley of brilliance and originality.”
Derek runs a monthly online event called “Subbacultcha” featuring live music and poetry/literary readings. He also writes a column for Writing.ie and contributes non-fiction articles to the Irish Times.
