Paul J Bolger is what some might call a ‘Renaissance Man’, even if mentioning that makes him feel a tad self-conscious.

Everything Paul has done since entering the entertainment industry in the late 1980s has been from the heart. Whether it was lending his drawing, directing and design skills to films, books and graphic novels, the visual arts or writing, recording and performing his songs, PJB is a consummate creator. His animation films credits include The Land Before Time, All Dogs Go To Heaven, The Thief & The Cobbler, Cool World, Shaun The Sheep and the upoming Wallace & Gromit film.

Paul’s graphic novel adaptation of the life and times of Ireland’s national hero Cú Chulainn, called HOUND was illustrated by Paul and co-written with Barry Devlin (of Horslips) is published by Dark Horse Comics and is on release worldwide from March 2022.

Since returning to writing and recording his original songs Paul has released a limited edition EP called The Start Of It in 2018 for which he also and directed a promo video for each song.

His eponymous first album, recorded in Canada, Ireland and New York with producer Hugh Christopher Brown, was released on Canadian recording label Wolfe Island Records in summer 2020. It garnered great critical success with RnR Magazine saying its songs “swim inside your head like digitally animated fish” and Penny Black Music complimenting the record on its “beautiful Country Rock harmonies”.

PJB’s new album Hard Truth was released on April 29th, 2022 to further great acclaim.

RnR Magazine gave it a **** review and said, “think of Paul Brady and Jackie Leven and you’re in the ballpark!”

Rocking Magpie said “In my collection, it’s going to sit on the shelf with Paul Weller, Bryan Adams and Lucinda Williams…. and I think it will be very comfortable there.”

Horslips mainman Barry Devlin says, “the rave reviews for Hard Truth are well deserved. Paul Bolger has put together a brilliant rock album. Do yourself a favour…play it and play it loud…”
