Waterford Walls will facilitate a project to normalise disability by running a workshop for six young people aged 12-18 who are linked to one of the three Childrens’ Disability Network Teams in Waterford. The venue for the Waterford Walls workshop is the Gallery Room in Tramore Coastguard Cultural Centre on Sunday 30th October from 2-4pm.

During the workshop with the Artist, the young people will come up with ideas for a mural to normalise disability. An international artist will paint the mural at a later date, with participation from the young people who attend the workshop.

The workshops are organised by Maria Rockett, Occupational Therapist, Waterford South City Children’s Disability Network Team.

In order to get a wider representation of disability for this project, children and adults can draw a picture accompanied by a description of how the drawing normalises disability, then email it  to [email protected] for the young people attending the workshop to consider.

We will need a central location to paint the mural on a wall. If any centrally located businesses would like to offer their wall or would like to sponsor this project, please email [email protected].

The Imagine Arts Festival are delighted to host these arts events and workshops that normalise disability and are accessible for children with complex needs.
