Demystifying Spraypaint Workshop with Caoilfhionn Hanton

Imagine are proud to be hosting a workshop day of ‘Demystifying Spraypaint’ with Caoilfhionn Hanton, a Waterford art student and artist on the rise. Caoilfhionn has nine years of spraypaint and commission experience under her belt at the age of twenty-four, and she is eager to easily translate spray-painting fundamentals, and share her skill set with ten interested participants. Participants will walk away with their own piece of artwork, and will also practise different types of mixed-media mediums like acrylic paint and markers. You will learn lesser-known tips and tricks that translate her process and preparation; from designing a piece, increasing scale, how to cut stencils and spraypaint itself and its essential tools. Spaces are limited and those aged 13-18 are preferable.

Life Drawing workshop with Una Sealy RHA

In this workshop, Una will lead the participants, step by step, through the elements of drawing the figure, from basic anatomy, structures, and composition. She will demonstrate the principles of how to start a drawing by using gesture, negative space, gravity lines and measuring. The participants will follow this process, with individual guidance. The workshop is suitable for all levels, but some life drawing experience will be helpful. Una Sealy is a tutor in drawing, painting and anatomy at the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA) School. She is Professor of Art at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. (RCSI)

Exhibition: Brazen by Ciara O’Connor

Ciara O’Conor is a Kerry based visual artist who works with textiles and embroidery. Her work is figurative and deals with themes of identity, nostalgia, relationships, and feminism. She uses a combination of hand stitching, free motion embroidery and raw-edged appliqué to create her thread drawings. The slow, meditative nature of hand stitching allows time to become intimately connected with what she is making. The speed and fluidity of machine stitching allows for a more intuitive, expressive outcome and instant gratification.
