Since the release of his debut album ‘Radio Friction’ in 2007, with the Distractions, Shane Barry has been carefully crafting pop songs in the vein of influences from McCartney to Wilco via the Clash. Following a period of performing and writing, Shane Barry has recently completed his debut solo album – ‘The Night Post’, a collection of songs populated by the thoughts and ruminations of the early waking hours. The musical pallet and song craft has matured significantly as each song is inhabited by a cast of characters searching for hope amongst a mixture of synth-pop, rock, and alt. country. Maintaining the perpetual search for sing-along choruses and upbeat arrangements, ‘The Night Post’ manages to deliver the nostalgia for times past in its own unique way.

Recorded over 18 months with a stable of musicians - each drafted in to add their talents to specific songs - the album will be released in early 2019. The first single, ‘Summer Kids’ is a slice of T-Rex-inspired pop with all of Barry’s trademark preferences for hooks and sing-a-long melodies on display.

The last number of months have seen Shane Barry performing ‘The Night Post’, as a band, and in solo form, all held together with the electronic backing tracks that give ‘The Night Post’ its own eclectic world of influences. Songs from the Distractions’ first album, and an unreleased second album, are adapted for the new tour to demonstrate the diverse approach to Barry’s song writing style.
